Review: The Strangers

“ALLAH YAKHTHEK KHALDOOO!”

All I can say at the moment, This movie will make me walk to my house scared once I go back to Amman. The Strangers is not a horror movie, but a good suspense one, one of those, “even scarier because it could actually happen” movies.

No super powers, no living after death, no invincible serial killer… it’s all right here in reality. Camera is also kind of unstable to give you a real feeling, as always, that’s what makes a scary movie significant in 99.9% cases

Young couple (LIV TYLER & SCOTT SPEEDMAN) go to his parents isolated vacation home for the night. Arriving late at night, they’re not in the house for long before some little girl starts knocking the door asking for something… Strange sounds, moved objects, a young girl at the front door at 4 am looking for an unknown.

I won’t say anything more about the plot because I don’t want to spoil it for you. I will say that the movie pulls you in from the beginning. The main characters in the film are sensible with the situation for the most part; unlike so many horror movies where the would be victims are constantly doing stupid things making it easier for the killers.

I don’t want to spoil the movie, Liv Tyler and Suspense… If you are even the least bit interested in JUST SUSPENSE, SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

Scores 4.5/5 on my scale.

Dating… online? Emmm?

Posted: June 25th, 2008 | Author: Moey | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: | 11 Comments »

Many people who tried online dating were exposed to the fact that the person they knew online is not the same person they met in real life.

My 5 groosh…

I think online hook-ups/relationships are no different than any other kind, dating a person you met online is just like dating a person from work. It is not any different, all relationships involve some sort of risk.

I’ve had online relationships, some failed and some didn’t, however that doesn’t mean Internet dating doesn’t work, what worries me is the anonymity which allows you to create any personality you want to be, some make it totally unlike themselves in real life and they could fool everybody if they want to.

It is all happening just because the Internet is the latest and most convenient tool of communication. People sometimes (example: my mother, your mother, his mother… mothers in general) think it’s a joke to find potential partners on the Internet.

Yet there are many married couples who have met their love through it (my cousin did…)

I guess arranged marriages do not work well anymore? I do not believe in them…

Update: I called the featured members off because everyone is having guest posts on their blogs. and I do not copy.

I hate comic sans!

My friend Zeina knows how much I hate Comic Sans, so she sent this over!

Windows users, DO IT NOW!

Ever wanted to get rid of comic sans on a website possibly on a computer where you couldn’t delete the font? This is really simple.

Do what’s on this in firefox (Opera and IE can too), you can store the bookmark anywhere. The beauty of it is that you can type “fix” in the URL bar and instantly all typefaces are your default.

Here’s the full code:

javascript:(function(){var H=[],Y={FONT:1},d=[],p; function R(N){var a,x,i,t; if(t=N.tagName){ t=t.toUpperCase(); for (i=0;a=H[i];++i)if(N.getAttribute(a))N.removeAttribute(a); for(i=0;x=N.childNodes[i];++i)R(x); if (Y[t])d.push(N); } } R(document.documentElement); for (i=0;N=d[i];++i) { p=N.parentNode; while(N.firstChild)p.insertBefore(N.firstChild,N); p.removeChild(N); } })()

Does anyone remember my blog 2-3 years ago? I had a “Ban Comic Sans” sign attached in the header?
