Early Eid Post, Goodbye Kuwait.

This summer have been absolutely crazy for me. I didn’t think it was possible to work that much and still remain sane (from time to time). Now I’ve gotten myself sick. That’s what stress does to you, it weakens your immune system with the great help of Ramadan in messing your life schedule upside down.

What I really hate about this is stress, which usually sucks the creativity out of you. Stress is NOT a good thing. There is good stress. Yes it’s usually referred to as – drive or adrenaline. Stress is not good, it puts you into a constant state of panic and worry, which is not natural.

I hate the flu, please! not in the summer!

Anyways… this blabbering, is probably a waste of time, so let me get straight to the point, I’m leaving the office next week. I hope you enjoy a massive eid, celebrate it with your family.

I’m not coming back to Kuwait, not anytime next year. but If I ever do, please miss me. I hate leaving a place that I got attached to.. the fact that I have to say goodbye to people is hard! but life goes on :)

This a little thing I wrote for my work colleagues:

I feel lucky because I had the chance to meet all of you in this lifetime. It was extraordinary, and still is. If I did anything wrong, I’m sorry. Thank you for coming into my life, and letting me enjoy my life a little bit more with your company and friendship. I feel so grateful for the chance to work at Leo. I really want to thank everyone for the good times, bad times and the fun. I will miss you guys, I hope that I get the chance to see/work you once I graduate, maybe next year? nobody knows :)

Wish you guys the best with the best of luck with your clients :)

Ramadan Day #2: HP Rebranding

Yes, I did it yesterday! today I couldn’t, my throat is killing me, the weather is humid and I’m a human being.

Anyways, here’s a new ugly logo coming up.

HP has decided to go wacko and go glossy, now the logo almost looks like a SUPERHERO according to Freddie, They have decided to move away from the rounded rectangle and go with a circle. The HP now has a “fancy” bevel to it as well.

I think it is disgustingly bad!

Arabising logos, the YES and NO.

Posted: August 24th, 2008 | Author: Moey | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: | 12 Comments »

Arabising logos or let me say, making Arabic versions of logos originally in Latin typeface is tricky! there’s this thin line between fucking it up or making it stand. and many fall! I went to the avenues mall here in Kuwait the other day and realized that many brands that I already saw in Dubai or Beirut before have arabised versions here in Kuwait, Bershka for example has a kinky normal kufi text in Arabic that doesn’t reflect the brand at all.

Paul’s logo is another example, I was googling some random stuff and stumbled (let’s say) upon this. I think Kuwait follows Qatar with this rules that obliges companies/stores by the law to provide an Arabic equivalent of its logo, Paul’s logo actually reads: “Bol” which in Arabic means urine which is not good for a restaurant. at least you don’t have to ask where the washrooms are…

Here is my favorite:
