One year with my Blackberry

July 28th, 2010

I can’t believe it is a year already, my Blackberry Curve 8900 is one year old today.

I thought I’d write about my experience, this phone was linked to Zain (Jordan), Orange (Jordan), VIVA (Kuwait), Wataniya (Kuwait) and Syriatel (Syria). I found out that I can depend on this phone, with it I was able to send e-mails through Gmail, connect to Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter, besides the ability to use Yahoo! & Microsoft Messengers.

I managed to update the software twice through the year, through a very easy way by connecting my phone to my macbook with either USB or Bluetooth. I had the worse experience with Zain using this phone, Zain’s prepaid service was a constant nightmare, it takes 30 minutes to activate it but it actually never does, Zain really needs to improve their EDGE service, Howerver… Service was smooth with Orange, VIVA & Wataniya. Syriatel was a different story, Syria has no service but I could use WAP, which was a life-savor sometimes.

I don’t think I need a new phone. But, If I ever get another one then it must be either a 3G Blackberry or an iPhone, but I was thinking either an unused iPhone 3Gs that I can pimp or a new iPhone 4 from the 2nd release without an antenna problem.

My birthday is not until December so I guess it is too early to make a decision from now. However, I advise you all to buy Blackberry phones, they’re great to use and keep your little business/freelance connected.
