Change your facebook display picture into a cartoon! Seriously?
December 7th, 2010
This has got to be the silliest facebook campaign (run by people of course) that I’ve ever seen!
It started with status updates, quoting one of them:
Change your Facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood. The goal? To not see a human face on Facebook until Monday, December 6th. Join the fight against child abuse & copy & paste to your status to invite your friends to do the same
So If cartoon characters are starting to replace your Facebook friends, take comfort. You’re not alone.
According to Google stats and many other sources, “cartoons from the 90s,” “80s cartoons,” and plenty of other cartoon-related phrases dominated Google’s list of hot searches. On Facebook, images of the Flintstones, Thundercats, the Smurfs and other classic cartoon characters are taking over users’ news feeds.
I’m not getting this! Children aren’t allowed to register on facebook, and this is not going to stop the violence anyway. What about supporting a real charity instead? or doing other things to children?
Why don’t you drive around your neighborhood, find this little kid selling gum next to the traffic light, and then give him money to eat, or a sandwich, T-shirt or take him somewhere where he could be helped, like: shelters, mosques or churches, where they could at least give him a hot shower and a stomach-filling meal.
I was actually checking a friend’s profile, who is not supporting this change like me, and I found this amazing reply:
Slacktivism: “The word is considered a pejorative term that describes “feel-good” measures, in support of an issue or social cause, that have little or no practical effect other than to make the person doing it feel satisfaction.”
Are you satisfied yet?

It was fun, that’s why.
