The iPhone Chat Fight: iMessage, ChatON or WhatsApp?

January 7th, 2012

I am one of those indecisive people who can’t make up their minds when it comes to chatting on Smartphones, I love BBM on my blackberry yet I also enjoy WhatsApp and iMessage more on my iPhone (knowing that I dislike WhatsApp on Blackberry).

Today, I was happy to find out that Samsung ChatON is now on iPhone. I recently abandoned my Android (where the app first got released) and I am happy to see the app on the iOS now going straight into competition with Apple’s own iMessage.

With this release on iOS, ChatON became available for Google’s Android smartphone OS, Samsung’s Bada platform & Both Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry clients are already on their way, along with a web-based version of the client for those who wish to stay connected whilst on a computer.

Users can share photos, videos, voice notes, location, calendar appointments and contacts as well making the competition with other SMS replacements hard to compete. WhatsApp is one huge competitor because the number of people who already have WhatsApp installed is huge with the multiple versions and the great support of anything with or without keyboards or even phones with wifi or data only options, WhatsApp enjoyed being the king of the instant messaging clients, the question is… With Samsung’s ChatON, will it maintain its position? Only time can tell…
