Jordan Customs, The Straw That Broke The Camel’s Back
July 9th, 2011
I understand that Jordan is a poor kingdom with limited sources… What I don’t understand is the new way of imposing direct and indirect taxes by Jordan customs.
A year ago, Nokia N8 mobile phone ads were all over the country, while Nokia stores had no devices to sell? Do you know why? It is because Jordan customs check phones operating systems and base tax upon them, so the Symbian phone was held by mistake thinking it was under the Android operating system. Also a few months ago they held all Android devices including Samsung Galaxy series and most of LG models, a month later Sony Ericsson and Motorola as well from entering town because they need to tax the Android operating systems and inspect the mobiles… Seriously?
Electronics are supposed to be customs-free, I forgot to mention that even personally ordered iPhones and iPads were also held at the Customs because they needed to “tax” the iOS operating systems… So now, According to customs authorities Android Operating System serves as multi-purpose system hence it is not just a phone but a computer-generated device? Same goes for iPhones, iPads and mini-iPods…
Do people at the customs even know what an OS is? Why not impose a tax on Blackberry devices too? they have an operating system like Lara said… or does the Blackberry local dealer have some Vitamin “W” at the customs?
Jordan Customs, stop killing our economy… We are hardly able to afford essential things… stop killing Mobiles, cinemas, probably taxing the air is next? I heard CO2 is tax-free.

What are they going to ban next Moey? Hmmm… Books perhaps? Oh right they already did that! This is a complete outrage!
lol I like how it became English “Vitamin W” LOL
