How to run Blackberry Beta in non-supported countries

Now, some of us blackberry mobile owners in the MENA region are fans of the Official Blackberry page on facebook and we usually get teased by the new software betas that we can’t test or use because whenever any of us tries to go to www.blackberry.com/beta and register, we get the following message: “We’re sorry, the application form is not yet available for your country. We are adding new country locations over time. Please be patient as we continue to expand across the globe.”

So, today I decided to challenge RIM (like most of us Apple users have fake US-based accounts and buy vouchers/redeem to buy stuff from the US iTunes store). I asked a friend of mine in the states to do the registration process for me, verify the registration and then logged in, applied for a Facebook V2.0 Beta and tried to login from my blackberry and download it, but it wouldn’t work. I decided to try a trick, where I disabled network and connected my device on Wi-Fi and it worked! I downloaded and installed the beta.

Now, I’m using the new Facebook beta that Blackberry’s page announced earlier on facebook with a status update saying: “Facebook for BlackBerry Smartphones v2.0 (Beta 3) is getting an update based on your feedback! The app will now feature Wi-Fi support, the ability to delete comments and posts and a new prompt that appears before you delete a Facebook message. Give it a go! http://tlk.tc/lX4“

How to do it?

1- Ask an American friend (or anyone from the listed supported countries on Blackberry Beta’s website) to register for you, you need to give him your first name, last name, address, city, state, country, zip/postal code, email, selected password, blackberry phone model and PIN.
2- Check your inbox, click on the verification link.
3- Sign in and enjoy applying for betas.
4- Thank me for being such a nosy person and taking it further.
