VIVA, Kuwait’s new telecom company

VIVA, The 3rd telecom in Kuwait celebrated its launch yesterday.

Kuwait Telecom Company (KTC) has inaugurated its commercial brand, Viva, which represents transparency and commitment towards clients. It will focus on offering advanced and integrated client service once it is launched in the Kuwaiti market. This was announced at a press conference held recently by Saudi Telecom Company’s CEO Mr. Saud Bin Majed Al-Duwaish and VIVA’s CEO Najeeb Al-Awadi.

Mr. Al-Duwaish gave a statement at the conference in which he spoke highly of the enormous success made by the company, which proudly became operational, built its network and finished staff recruitment in a record time, stressing that this was considered a grand achievement following the acquisition of the Third License in November 2007 and becoming operational within in no more than 10 months.

He said we are ready today to launch VIVA, which we trust will add a new meaningful value to the telecom market in Kuwait through diversified outstanding services. He welcomed Mr. Najeeb Al-Awadi, who had been chosen CEO to VIVA based on his extensive valuable expertise. Mr. Al-Awadi took it upon himself to fulfill the Company’s future aspirations in encouraging promising Kuwaiti youths to join in for brilliant professional careers in telecommunications, he added.

He pointed out that Al-Awadi spent 10 out of his 15-year experience setting up two leading telecommunications companies in the region and watching them bloom into world-standard telecom platforms. He was also general manager of a very well known International Networks Company for five years, where he built an expansive telecommunications network, he added, stressing that Al-Awadi set down an exemplary model for diligence, innovation and leadership.

I hope they make difference!

Its got the same logo of the telecom company STC owns in Indonesia…

I don’t think they’ll make a big difference overall, people in KSA couldnt wait to leave it for Mobily (Emirtaes’ Etisalat) and Zain when they launched… and both companies killed STC so far lol…
So just wait and see :)

  2. Kuwait aminji Says:

make incoming free then only it will work otherwise give me one good reason way should i leave my wataniya number which i am using since last 4 years

  3. Kuwait Moey Says:

the logo is now unified for STC, VIVA and AXIS.

    Oh yeah… I don’t like it btw… too smudgy…

  5. Kuwait Sandeep Says:

Can it offer cheap international call rates? Majority of Kuwait population is Asians and they look forward to slashing of call international rates.

If VIVA can provide such incentives then it is worth switching to this network.

  6. Kuwait Moey Says:

    They will probably do so.

  7. Kuwait mukarram Says:

make the rates lower and make the incoming free that can make us to use ur line or no other good reason .

  12. Kuwait aminji Says:

there is a monopoly of mtc and wataniya come on viva break it

  13. Europe mansoor Says:

Hi, incoming should be free from the respective countries from which people are working here .

  14. Kuwait shabbir Says:

make internet cheap and incoming free u make good coustmer

  15. Kuwait n3tr0x Says:

Let’s hope they do so! But based on my knowledge international call tariffs are previously specified by a global organization - with some interference of the Kuwaiti gov.

I think they’d do it ILLEGALY by linking their local network to their cross-country network.

  16. Kuwait safraz Says:

Hi i am missing this line in the market i want to buy this first if u have free incomming

  17. Kuwait Majid Says:

hi there I feel that viva will be effective, but I have a great No from wataniya Will viva give me a No. that will Match my wataniya No which will make me change to Viva ???
or i will follow the way of pay more to get a nice No. Thank you and wish you success

  18. Kuwait Moey Says:

I think they will link it to saudi’s n3tr0x

  19. Kuwait Mumtaz Shaikh Says:

Please make internet cheap and incoming free then you can make good customer.

  20. Europe Waqar Ahmad Says:

If the rates will be same for calling incoming , outgoing, SMS , international then I think for me and I am sure for others it will be like nothing new is coming or already here. ZAIN and WARANIYA already they are in full move to fully ripping us off now we don’t want any third company to that again. If they will be cheap like really cheap more than 50% less then we’ll think otherwise GOOD BUY to VIVA.

  21. Europe Moughal Says:

    Hi There,
Whats good will this company bring to kuwaitmarket????. If u set all incoming free especially nation vide, if u give one free number to talk with no charges ,if u give good band width speed and the number easily available like (dob, car plate etc etc) Then only viva can survive in Kuwait marketother wise its no chance.Have a nice journey launching in kuwait…..:)
    Regards

  22. Germany Tommy Says:

I hope they destroy the devil Zain!

  23. Kuwait SweetD Says:

  24. Kuwait Altaf Says:

Hi, hopefully this company will make us free incoming calls w/o charge any thinkg. otherwise no use this 3d mobile company in kuwait, and no one will buy this line. if there is no incoming call free i will never buy this line. please dont charge for incoming call for local landline or international please please……Regards Altaf

  25. Kuwait Da7 Says:

Hey all, if you are hoping for cheap international calls or free incoming calls then forget about it. cause you know the rates for international calls are not set by wataniya or Zain it is set by the ministry of communication so there is no way they are going make international calls cheaper than the other companies. As for local calls, i highly doubt that there is going to be any difference cause you know that there is rent that every company pays for the numbers !!!!! to the ministry of communication of course. However, i heard their main focus is going to be on the internet and they are going to launch a 7.2 Mb speed an actual one not like the others are claiming

  26. Kuwait Moey Says:

    Da7, zain’s is fast, it is 7.2

  27. United States sajid Says:

Its of NO use if the third company comes and offer the same price like the two operators, right now kuwait is the only one country where international incoming calls are been charged to the receiver which unfortunately is more what the caller is paying per min like from india :)we need some change in rates otherwise there is no option in using zain or wataniya

  28. Kuwait Renil john Says:

All have to study from the indians, how they make profit even by lowest charges for outgoing and free for the incoming.till thn new foreign companies try to make new launches in india.u knw that now in india there are bsnl, airtel, vodafone, bpl, tata, idea, reliance.most of the companies have attractive offers for companies with 5 or 10 connections within the selected numbers and also friends connections with free to call 2 or 3 selected friends.u can make a challenge to other mobile companies by giving viva to viva with attractive lower charges.
other important thing is for the international outgoing. most of the calls,i think, may be going to india(more than 6,00,000 indians itself in kuwait),pakistan etc.(what they do now is with illegal internet phones). if u can give attractive offers for the outgoing even for selected festivals of these nations, as etisalat gives offers for onam, new year, christmas, ramdan, eid, etc. hope u can do more and more than we expect..

  30. France suhail Says:

If you guys go to reduce the charges or some offer which would be attractive to customers only the third Mob Communications is going to success

  31. Kuwait francisco rodrigues Says:

    u pppl ar gonna rock…

  32. Europe SHAKIR ALI Says:

Please go and study Indian moblie telecom how they giving facilities for customers, with very good less charges, how is the services etc …then try to make provide a good affordable telecom like cheap and best ….cuz here average peopiles suffering too much from the current two Tel.companies

  33. Kuwait Siby Says:

Wishing all good luck. We hope by the coming of a new telecom company, Other 2 existing company will reduce the call rate or the VIVA also will tie up with them and kill all expats by keeping the same rate?. We are looking forward to see good result from VIVA means, reduce the call rate and should not charge for incoming calls…

  34. Kuwait Yhamed Says:

well lets see how VIVA operates!!! if Ministry of Communication is going to charge same to VIVA as Wataniya and Zain! then I doubt that there will be any cheaper rates for public to enjoy!
the incoming has be to be set for free regardless of any network then only VIVA can boost! and who knows! perhaps they keep incoming free (for a while, let company boost etc…)
to be honest! Viva has to have more then just fresh numbers for showing profits in 2009!

  35. Europe Omar Says:

Well lets see wut viva have to offer us
    lets Hope for the best

  36. Kuwait Nancy Says:

Its nice to hear about the new telecome company!!! hope you could come out with smarter plans and policy tat are more customer focued!!! like free incomming from local LAN and mobile phones (atleast)and free SMS plans too.

  37. Great Britain (UK) Mick Says:

Viva have their hands tied - MOC collects incoming revenue so no free calls.
14.4Mb HSDPA coverage in Kuwait is not yet possible - no hansets available so same old 7.2Mb HSDPA (6Mb realy) at launch, but 14.4 HSDPA (10Mb)is coming so this will be the difference.

  38. Europe sunny shyjesh Says:

the monopoly of kuwait telecom will not end by the third tele company. now it will a single group of monopoly.incoming charge is not anywhere in the world.but if you need amazing profit, you should competete others.the users expecting too much from you.you can study from indian system.in india”s calling charge is very cheap more than kuwait incoming deductions.believing…………..

  39. United States Mansoor Says:

Money Monopoly in this country kills everyone. If VIVA needs to survive, it must break telecom market monopoly. First of all, free all incoming calls from anywhere(local or international), lower international calling rates, bring new age telecom technology. Not last but the least, reduce call charges locally. If VIVA can’t do all this, then it makes no difference in how many new companies start operating in Kuwait.
Kuwait: Only country charging In-Coming calls.
Take lessons from Indian Telecom Companies.

VIVA: Break old Paths IF you need to Survive.

  40. Kuwait MANJESHWAR ABDUL ROUF Says:

  41. Europe PREMS Says:

    Hi All,

Best of luck for this company, but please give better services to the customers same like other international comapies are doing ( mainly incoming calls get free then reduce incoming calls reduce little reduce then other comapnies here)
