I love it how you speak Arabic/English in one sentence… Are you sure you didn’t live here in Canada/USA for a few years! Unless this is how our generation is speaking now a days! :P

For some reason you look sooo Jordanian/Palestinian.. I think it is the beard! :)

I love it how you rant about Jordanian designers.. I think you will get a lot of angry people soon!

Rebellious Arab Girl: This is how this new generation speaks, specially in West Amman :-(

  10. 10 za3tar said at 5:48 AM on May 14th, 2008:

Moey: You raise a good point. I think the problem of good people migrating away is not just in Graphics Design, but also in many other fields.

I think this means a couple of things: 1. the market is ready for good people to sweep it away and do very well in it. 2. we need the good and talented experts to stay in the country to lift the status quo of that field and make it attractive for other talented people to come and compete in it.

I am personally not very well versed in the field of graphics design, but i can tell you that this is the case for software engineering. However, luckily, highly talented engineers have realized the huge potential that is available (untouched) in the country and they are taking advantage of that. So, hopefully that will happen with graphics design.

Just out of curiosity, what are your plans after graduation ? do you intend to leave or stay ?

  11. 11 Moey said at 5:54 AM on May 14th, 2008:

za3tar, I got offers to go to Dubai, Kuwait and Bahrain. I will choose the best company, then take the offer. so far, they’re all good and in the top 5 internationally.

I’m not planning to stay, unless I get a super good offer and a salary that is close to the ones in the Gulf, but that’s not happening… I know people who’ve been in the industry for 10 years if not more, and still get low payments.

  12. 12 za3tar said at 6:43 AM on May 14th, 2008:

Moey: Good luck with your decision.

  13. 13 Moey said at 7:24 AM on May 14th, 2008:

    Thanks Za3tar. Same to you!

Yo Moey…how goes it…who is it that said I may not agree with what you’re saying but will defend to death your right to say it? Graphic Design isnt about what they teach you in university, its about experiences that you translate visually into art and trust me no one can teach that. I wish you the best of luck whereever you decide to go. From what I have seen you are incredibly talented and will do well. AND FOR THE RECORD, if you mix Arabic and English then dont change that, it’s very natural and not scripted, your cast needs to be about you and what you are:)

What’s your email, want to send you something that will make you realize the truth behind our industry here in Jordan…

I haven’t watched the video yet because I’m at the library, but I am gonna watcgh it as soon as I reach home, I like the idea of vodcasting from Jordan because you can hardly find any serious once from Jordan on youtube.

I would be interested in personal vodcasts from you and vocasts about what’s going on in Jordan this summer.

  16. 16 Nizar said at 2:26 PM on May 14th, 2008:

I couldn’t wait to watch this video so I watched it in the library :P

It’s great to be honest, I liked it a lot, a little more lightning in the room would really help the quality of the video.

The content it self is great, I enjoyed it a lot and I’m looking farwords to watch the next episode.

I would also like to hear more about personal stuff and what’s going on in jordan this summer as I said in my previous comment.

    Thanks Moey :D

    I laughed my ass off on the bit where u say “300 x 400 pixels o 3amelha 50cm x 70cm…”

And the problems with graphic designers isn’t only the university, its being creative, its looking around you and getting a sudden inspiration from something or somewhere, and unfortunately, a lot of graphic designers in the middle east don’t have any kind of creativity.

Good luck with your new job offers, I really wish you all the best. You’re a great designer, and keep it in the same Arabic/English way it is, its so much fun!

and about the subject of the video , Well your right , But there are some amazing designers in jordan , They are well known for there amazing work , Don’t ask me to name them or prove it , But i know a few , And your one of them , Too bad though that your leaving the country for who knows when!!.

I sure hope you talk about more fun stuff every know and then , Don’t make this project dead serious.

Dear moey … I agree. I’ve spent the last year trying to hire real talented senior designers but as you said …. The creative Jordanian designers they left the country to work in Dubai and the gulf aria …. Now I am doing my best to keep my grate designers whom are professional enough to empress you to change your opinion about the graphic level in Amman , I liked this website so much … all the best .

    I think it`s sadly true :(
I always wondered why we haven`t even talented wall street artists like anywhere else, I can`t see anything except stupid “7`rabesh” that just ruin.I believe we are have been isolated from the talent since schools is just for getting marks.you know I studied software engineering but I still have a passion in graphics design and animations and arts.but I think the market have depressed me so soon.but I will work for my own duh.

Graphic Design is an easy way to make money (in any country).

Why not just rip someone off and charge a crap load of money for it =)

No need to be creative, no need to try, just make something that is pleasing on the eye. and get paid on top of that =)

Beats writing code for a living =)

(I am a graphic designer and a software engineer in Jordan).

wallahi so bad ya man first you mention the name of the maktabeh that you printed your stuff in and then you say i wont say names la2eno ma beseer!!!! listen i realy dont know you so dont take this personaly i think if you and people like you stay in jordan graphic design is never going to be better if it is as you say bad in jordan because they dont need someone like you who i think according to your earings never in his life saw mo5ayam el hussien would ever know what those graphic designers put them selfs into to do that work they need support , leading them to the right path is the right way saying i wont even use their design for a mattress!!!! if your feeling bad about how graphic design in jordan is i advice you to start a design aid campaign in jordan, you sound like a guy that could make changes so use that man okay

  28. 28 Moey said at 10:52 PM on July 5th, 2008:

Yaz, I mentioned the name of the place so what? I don’t want to mention that person’s name because he doesn’t deserve the publicity.

I’ve been to mokhayyamat before and helped kids and families, I give lectures in design to kids at some institution. why do I have to say all that?

    I’m starting an aid soon.
