Rant: I hate GE SS Two (The Arabic font you probably spot on 99% of the ads in the Middle East)
I don’t know what to say/how to start… this font is getting on my nerves, alright?
This specific font is becoming the new Naskh and that is not right, check every single ad in the streets of beloved Amman, 99% of the ads have this font as the main type, created by Boutros/Grapheast. What I hate about it is the identity, I saw it on banks, food, awareness, TV… etc! ads.
In some agencies, creative directors and even clients force you to use it. they even use it for guidelines… They use it on everything, Calling people who create guidelines: PLEASE STOP USING THIS FONT!
I had the pleasure of sitting through the most awful clients *silly type of clients* ever. They very unhelpfully change your designs using MS Paint over the low resolution JPEGs or PNGs you previously sent for preview purposes and recommend specific fonts and then ask you to implement that.
Again, it is the tax you pay…

LOL although the font looks good :S using/abusing something too much may backfire!
Yeah I used to like it, but now its over-used I hate it! Seriously, such a waste. This font is really nice, but people are stupid. And they used it 3al Fady wel Malyan.
Theres also another font that was abused before this one, and its still used in the Mobily KSA phone operator (www.mobily.net.sa)…
I used to love it but now OMG I get pissed when I see it around ANYWHERE.

Well, I am glad that this design is well appreciated in Jordan, and I am disappointed that our sales in Jordan does not exceed the 3 clients who paid for this fonts. Either our 5 clients control 90% of the market, or everyone is using pirated copies. I hope you have paid for it. In any case if everyone who used our fonts paid for them, we would be selling them much cheaper, and more important, we would be designing more fonts for you to love… John Boutros Grapheast General Manager

I don’t read Arabic but I think this font looks really nice, especially placed next to something like Helvetica Neue, which it matches well. Sure fonts can be over used but there is also a lot to be said for reader familiarity. That’s important in many situations.
John & Magnus, I love the GE SS fonts but they are overused now.
This one specifically is becoming the new Arial let’s say.
