The Lyrics:
I hope you hang yourself with your H&M scarf
While jacking off listening to Mozart
You bitch and moan about LA
Wishing you were in the rain reading Hemingway
You don’t eat meat
And drive electrical cars
You’re so indie rock it’s almost an art
You need SPF 45 just to stay aliveYou’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like boys
You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like…You’re so sad maybe you should buy a happy meal
You’re so skinny you should really Super Size the deal
Secretly you’re so amused
That nobody understands you
I’m so mean cause I cannot get you outta your head
I’m so angry cause you’d rather MySpace instead
I can’t believe I fell in love with someone that wears more makeup than…You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like boys
You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like…You walk around like you’re oh so debonair
You pull ‘em down and there’s really nothing there
I wish you would just be real with meYou’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like boys
You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
Oh no no no no no no no
You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like boys
You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like
No you don’t even like… PENIS
Thank god I don’t like H&M hahaha!

good one … i like it

Really good song, I really like it. It’s very catchy, and the lyrics are sort of smart in a cheeky way. After 3 plays, I could sing a lot of it.
She sounds nothing like Pink, though. Pink doesn’t do the falsetto head voice in studio recordings, and she has a much raspier voice.
Like I said last night, she sounds more like a slicker Michelle Branch, without the accent and the forced pronunciation.
Using
cool one i like it

I think the Guy in the vid is totally hot… who cares if he’s Gay or Not…
What is wrong with being Gay, so he’s not into you, maybe if you had something intelligent to say he would be! I much prefer conversation involving hair product and clothing over other peoples personal lives!!!
But, I am Gay and take offense to anyone calling anyone a name, this song sounds like its coming a jealous 9th grader! I can’t believe anyone would still use music as a way to breed hate! The title to my next song is going to be, “YOU’RE SUCH A GIRL”
Using
oh come on
its not being prejudiced or homophobic or whatever
she’s ripping off how much of a pansy emo he is
and how straight guys act like bitches sometimes
its funny and relatable, if that’s a word.
have some fun, jeez.
Using
I do understand that she is not intetionally trying to homophobic. Place yourself in the shoes of a 16 year old gay boy in high school… NEVER being allowed to be who you are because being gay, and calling yourself gay has negetive effects. How fair is it that a grown woman continues to force future generations to supress who they are, by useing a word that has been embraced by the Gay community, even after decads of the word being used to hurt… Its like saying someone is Jewish, because they buy less expensive clothing. Or calling someone a “pansy” because he likes his pants a little too tight, and does not like contact sports. I wear the word Gay proudly, and make every effort to assist younger generations to believe they can be who they are.
Yes, the male barbie in the video wears too much makeup. But that is the point… Not that he is Gay!!
Using
i can’t begin to imagine how hard it is to have to fight for who you are every day
but i certaintly didnt have any negative feelings after listening to it
and you can argue that the use of the word gay in today’s society is less than favourable to the homosexual community
but i dont class people on their sexual preference
it should be private and unimportant to everyone else
but its not.
there are more important things about you
than your sexuality.
Using
Pues, a mi sà me gustó.
Using
This song is hysterical, the video is pretty funny too, good voice, good presentation. I saw her on Carson Daly this week, sounded good live.
My daughter’s dating her younger brother David. Her real last name is not Perry though.
Using
This song isn’t offensive, it’s fun. I’m bi, and I wasn’t offended… No, I don’t think ‘gay’ should be used as a slur, but she’s just having fun with it…
PS: By the way, I’m a teenager and bi and I never have to ‘fight for who i am’ and blah blah blah. If you classify who you are by your sexuality, here’s my advice: DON’T. It’s the type of person you are that counts, so JJG; I think you should let up on the melodrama and NOT LISTEN TO SONGS YOU CHOOSE TO BE OFFENDED BY!!!
PPS: On a kinder note, good luck on the ‘fighting for who you are’ front. I wish you all the best and… PENIS
(Sorry, I couldn’t resist)
Using
This song is Very offensive. Both of Kate Parry’s singles are offensive. I have a lot of issues with what the kid that commented a couple of days ago said but that’s another story. If you associate gay with effeminacy it’s enforcing a stereotype that is untrue and ridiculous and OFFENSIVE. Homosexuality has nothing to do with the quality of effeminacy. Many straight men are effeminate. I guess “you’re so effeminate” isn’t as catchy but it’s more accurate.
The little teen that wrote about not being offended and being bi and about how fighting for who you are is ridiculous obviously hasn’t come across being gay bashed, sexually harassed or raped because of who they are. Hopefully they’ll learn without having to go through those things.
Using
i absolutely love her new song- i kissed a girl. i love lilly allen and katy is very similar in my opinion. very good too
Using
Oh come on, its not a song to breed hate! Its a song about a guy that acts like a girl and isn’t even an awesome gay guy! The things is she is describing the more flamboyant gay guys while there is plenty of gay guys you wouldn’t even be able to tell they were gay until they told you. But whatever…. Gay guys are amazing. I have plenty of them as friends and some of them are my best friends
Using
GGRRRRRR. First of all it’s NOT about a guy who acts like a girl, let’s try to be politically correct, it’s abut and effeminate acting guy. Being effeminate doesn’t always mean like a woman. She is not even describing a gay man if you listened. She is talking about an effeminate straight man who she is calling “gay” based on the fact that he is effeminate. I love Gay men but she is perpetuating the stereotype that gay men are effeminate. It’s not cool.
Using
what? just because there’s the word “gay” in there, we have to jump to conclusions that she’s boxing gay men into a stereotype of being effeminate? oh my god, the redundancy!
did anyone get PAST the chorus and actually listen to the verses?! (you know, the bits that make this song worth listening to in the first place cause c’mon, the chorus isn’t exactly eloquent).
do you know what the verses paint for me? i’m thinking scrawny.
i’m thinking fake, pretentious, a conforming non-conformist - “Mozart, Hemingway, H&M scarf, don’t eat meat, the debonair walk, indie rock, electrical cars”
And a whiny melodramatic emo boy - “MySpace, makeup”
who’s “secretly so amused that nobody understands him”.
This guy isn’t the stereotypical homosexual. He’s a try-hard uber-metrosexual, wanting to be all sensitive, intelligent, different and all freakin “cultured” when he’s really just the same as any other FAKE. you know, the type that boasts of totally digging Mozart but falls asleep 10 seconds in or reading Hemmingway cause the Times called him “the basis of all American literature”. A name-dropping idiot who patronizes and pretends to be better than everyone else just to kick his self-esteem up a notch.
Even the stereotype that homosexuals have become synonymous with doesn’t stretch that far.
So, the chorus? to me, it’s childish. it kind of ruins the song. the spelling, wording and placement of “UR so Gay” suggests adolescent slang, that has, i’m sorry to say, not so much to do with homosexuality but is equal to “UR so lame”. this is a sad double entendre; it’s shameful that it should exist yet it feels like it will never cease to. Anyways, Katy Perry uses it by linking that use of ‘gay’ back to homosexuality which makes no sense! it’s totally disconnected with everything else. It’s almost like something stupid you say in the spur of a tantrum (which might suit the angry break-up song it seems to be) or a couple of la-la-las to fill in the beats of a song. in short, it’s silly. question: is it meant to be?
And when someone says that they “love Gay men”, they’re really just trying to be all anti-homophobic by TOTALLY ENDORSING THE HOMOSEXUAL STEREOTYPE. i mean, they love gay men just cause of their gayness?! their perception of gay men obviously stems from Will & Grace, the epitome of the effeminate-compulsory homosexual. what else is so special about gay men that makes you just love love loooove them? hmm? they’re people just like everyone else! not an issue-turned-trendy-craze like going green!
in short, i guess i agree with jade.
Using
I know that she’s using the word gay to make fun of a metrosexual. I think everyone who hears the song understands that but just by using teh word gay as an insult or a way to ridicule someone is to imply that it is something negative. And using the word “gay” to imply effeminate, part of gay culture or simply lame is semi-fine when we’re in the fifth grade because we don’t understand the implications but she isn’t twelve so there’s no excuse.
By saying I love gay men I mean that about half of my friends are gay men. I’m not saying that I love all gay men, because there are indeed a couple that I simply tolerate or flat out don’t get along with. Also only a few of my male homosexual friends come anywhere near the stereotype.
I don’t listen to Katy Perry and as much as you like it you have to admit that her lyrics are harmful to the image of the queer community. I think it’s obvious that she doesn’t care what damage she does and that she’s just going to keep using homosexuals in her music because it’s controversial and because no one cares.
If I made a song saying “you eat fried chicken, you’re so black and your skin isn’t even dark” there’d be issues. This is the same shit and it’d be just as fucked up but because it’s gays you’re saying it’s ok that we use derogatory language. Well that’s not alright.
