I first read about MTVA on http://www.globalgrind.com. I think that it is cool that the Middle East will get the opportunity to watch MTV programming. I read that a lot of the programming will be centered around the Hip Hop culture and I am interested to see how Hip Hop is embraced in the Middle East.

Hip hop is embraced in the middle east as any other type of music is. You see, music is not categorized by cultures as it somewhat is in america, but more by personal preferance. In Egypt, dance clubs lean more towards electronic music, but some do play hip hop. Check out sharm el sheikh for example. In Le pacha, they have 1 or 2 days of the week set for hip hop. But in Little Buddha, their music shifts from electronic to hip hop in the same night. Hope that helped.
