Replying on the Queen Alia’s again

Let me start quoting the great Nas:

“Unless the international community, including Arabs, begin to step up to the plate by taking in Iraqis, or giving us a whole lot of funding, then I don’t think any one is in a position to pick on Jordan.”

Mohanned said:

Moey,
Emotions will get us no where, Most of the Iraqies are good people who just want to live peacefully, they just want to get their children away from explosions and death, if 1% of them pissed you and me off that doesn’t make the other 99% less human, What jordan needs is more pressure on the international community to do their duties toward those people who were made homeless because of an unlawful invasion. Iraq, jordan and palastine are the strategic depth of all arabs and muslims, Iraq is and was our back just like we were their heart.

I was simply pissed because no one looked at the jordanian perspective, I was pissed more because people generalized about all jordan for the action of a pissed off officer!

Exactly, and If they want to generalize, I can generalize too… We’re being called “Khawaneh” and “3omala” just because they don’t get the ”service” they expect.

wait i thought ur kuwaiti :S

I was raised in Kuwait. Sure, I’m not Kuwaiti. I can speak Kuwaiti. I do however, visit Kuwait. Consider Kuwait, home. I’m circassian/jordanian.

I feel the same way too…

Exactly, they want us to feel guilty just for anything.. next thing, they’d blame us for 9/11.

Ha Ha.
You are so funny and making sense habibi. I am not going to descend into this Iraq/Jordan crap, but I never judged an entire country because of the actions of some of its inhabitants, I’ve met nice Jordanians so I won’t curse, but I think your ‘racism’ and ‘hatred’ has to do with how u feel people hate u for some reason. Stop it man, get an arm.

Best of luck
A concerned pal.

But you and the rest of the non-inhabitants didn’t say a word… and thanks! I’m good with one arm.

Actually Moey, people who talk about the airport incident do have a point. It is shameful to see things like this happening in our country. Yes, I am not with those who say that they are embarrassed to be Jordanian, and I would always be pround of being one, and I am proud of the way we handled the way situation and helping those hundred of thousands Iraqi’s to live among us, but when we treat some other people inhumanly, we should raise our voices and talk about it.

There is no need to bash the country at large, just to point our fingers to the injustice and ask for better solutions.

It happens everywhere, we are not different. It happens in the US, UK and everywhere else.

mkilany said:

Moey, This certainly isn’t the usual you… I can’t believe you said that! If other Arab countries suck with their treatment to Iraqi’s then it’s no excuse for us to give them bad time…

It has nothing to do with Iraqi’s, if we do something wrong we should work on getting it fixed… no matter what others do! & what’s that story about bragging that we have an Airport… and some don’t! are we teasing each other now… Why do we generalize on Iraqis, some sacrificed their lives on our soil, and some are not worth a nickle… like evey other nationality on earth… Jordanians included… There was a time when Iraq had universities and we didn’t how would you feel if you heard one say “at least we have universities, if you dont like how Jordanian students are treated then go find someplace else!?”

Why can’t we face this as grown ups and just realize that somewhere, somehow somebody who is Jordanian did a mistake… that doesn’t mean that Jordanians suck, it simply means that this particular person sucks…

What hurts me the most that such statements of hate and racism are coming from a YOU, from people who are well educated and leave a mark in people’s opinions… I never thought you’de be dragged to this senseless defence on something that is so obviously wrong…

Every single post by Iraqi bloggers and their media attacks us, in general.. all of us, either bad or good. People who bombed Radisson SAS last year? where did they come from? do you want our summer season to get screwed just like what’s happening in Lebanon? Maybe I hold grudges on Iraqis since gulf war, I was treated like shit from Iraqis during that period.

I thought to post a comment, but it would’ve been too long…. so here’s my answer to your post.

You don’t know me, I have a british citizenship, I’m a part-time spy actually, I don’t need to live a war again, I’ve already “been there, done that”. Thanks for calling me whatever you want in your post… Remember Remember, the 5th of November.

It’s sad to see how people are bashing a whole country for a couple of officers’ actions. And no one really noticed the fact that the Iraqi “victim” hid important information from the officer - He probably ran a check on his family and out they’re in Amman yet he said otherwise. This is a blunt lie and could result in having the man in court!

I have nothing to say, some people seriously need to “read”.

Adel said:

If we don’t need more iraqis, we shouldn’t allow them to stay in Jordan. But there’s no need to treat them (or anybody) with disrespect. Sorry Moey, but I didn’t like the gesture!

They were not treated with disrespect, they disrespect us…

I am amazed at how Jordanians who try to project a western image show an attitudes that has little to do with western values of tolerance and compassion. I am finding the islamists increasingly more palatable when compared to jordan’s psuedo-westernized elite and this frightens me. is this what we are left with today? islamism or narcissism? whatever happened to liberalism? can liberalisms take hold in non-democratic societies? i don’t think so.

Dignity more like it…

any complaints? suggestions? compliments? feel free to

I didn’t call you anything in my post. I just drew the parallel from your (and other people’s) arguments to the propaganda and arguments of the neo-nazi movement in Germany (whereas you can find those arguments in any right-wing movement in any country). I don’t need to know you to make this comparision because it is what you wrote and it is how it is. Furthermore… what does it have to do if you’re British or not; I don’t care. An inhuman view on those things is enough to judge your statements. There’s one thing I don’t understand, ok, you might have a certain hatred towards Iraqis since you grew up in Kuwait, but, this should actually show you the problem; what if you would’ve been treated like this by the authorities of a country that is supposed to help? There are daily incidends that you don’t hear about nor read in the newspapers, because certain people just don’t want it to get out. Just get in contact with NGOs who are stationed here in Amman and you’ll get all the facts about how Jordan is handling the refugee issue, and it is not really nice.

Moey, have that peanut butter milkshake and enjoy life again. I’m sorry people said painful things. I didn’t want to get involved, the last conflict invaded off-line life TOO much. I love Iraqis, and Jordanians. I don’t love what people say about the other!

Tell ya, I FEAR what is going to happen in the blogo-sphere during a hot Ramadan! Maybe that is the time to buy a ticket.
