Aziz Maraka’s performance KICKED ASS
Aziz Maraka // by `Mazz.
The concert was amazing, the band, the setup, the crowd. It was one of the best events of the year, the best so far.
Aziz performed “La Hali” and “Atwa” for the first time live on stage, the ticket price was reasonable, 10 JD including a drink (beer or wine if alcoholic, juice or Pepsi if not), the music was so good that the crowd asked Aziz to repeat a couple of songs but he couldn’t because he was tired and time was almost over, the event started at 9.30 instead of 9 because of traffic but it was all okay.
The new arrangements of “Ibki” and “Bent El Nas” were unexpected and way beyond amazing, I hope the CD* sells out very well because it’s a nice song and Aziz’s vocals are awesome.
One thing that pissed me off, PEOPLE not showing up, especially fans of Aziz (as they claim), some people thought the 10 JD was “3al fadi“… Well, you guys were totally mistaken. It’s worth a 20 if not more.
Anyways, Aziz fans, we’re working on a new section on his site featuring reviews send us your videos and photos of the event on webmaster@azizmaraka.com and we’ll post it with your name/site.
*Also, the CD and “Atwa” single should come out within 2 weeks. the CD is going to contain a live recording from the show.
Please post your comments and reviews on Aziz Maraka’s guestbook on http://azizmaraka.com or here, and I’ll make sure he gets them.
Thanks to Mobilecom and Mazaj FM for sponsoring the show.

Aziz is one of my ole buddies.. if I were not stuck in Arkansas, I would be one of the first to go and cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer for Azizo0o.. I am veryyy proud of his achievement ;)) Way to go Azizzzz
aww I would have definately gone if they weren’t serving alchohol and would have paid 20jd to go too if that had been the cost. And you better tell me the minute the CD comes out. I want one no matter how much it costs! And please tell him that if he ever decides to make a concert where they dont serve alchohol I would probably bring a few people with me who would enjoy it as well. Maybe he’d even get a better turnout…*shrugs* who knows.
glad you enjoyed it though.
great, khalas i’ll definitely get to attend one of his concerts.
and I agree with Kloude, I think he should consider the fact that there’s a majority of people who are uncomfortable around alcohol serving - i mean it’s still Jordan.
Man, I really loved his music, I have only listened to the shot clips that are uploaded on his new website, they were really good, I hope to I will be able to see one of his concerts this summer if he is making a new one.

ASHWAQ (ashlee)
It’s good to hear such fresh talent, I liked the bloke’s powerful voice, and the music was pretty good. The interesting part, is that it could go a long way, I see this genre developing in the Middle East, especially in the Levant, Iran Morocco and Tunisia (Meera, Soap Kills), so it has potential to get further appeal. Also, it’s not too Eastern, nor is it too Western, meaning, that it feeds the Eastern thurst for decent rock music, while it also gives Western orientalists what appeals to them in Eastern music. I won’t be surprised to see some of the tracks on a Buddha Bar compilation, which would give the bloke a good boost.
One thing I’ve noticed though, in many of these bands, is that I feel there’s pressure to produce vocals, and sometimes, the lyrics aren’t all that amazing. I could understand that our mostly traditional Arabic scene sort of imposes this, because we’re used to music with lyrics. All I’m saying, is that they shouldn’t be pressured to produce lyrics, rather than coming up with average lyrics. I mean c’mon the “sheftak, ma sheftak” verse in Soap Kills’ song isn’t really brilliant, and I’ve seen the same thing at almost every other Jazz concert in Arabia.
Good work Moey!
I totally agree, his performance was beyond amazing, but I was disappointed because people who said they’d show up on facebook or any other place didn’t!!
But I loved the concert!
And I’m not a drinker myself, but I don’t mind the Alcohol, I mean if you go to any CoffeeShop or restaurant in Jordan you’ll see that they serve alcohol! So it’s not like it’s a new phenomenon!
Hello
Very interesting information! Thanks!
