Poll: Do I need to move?.. I need to move!

Ok, I’ll list the advantages and disadvantages of the residence I live in and you guys are going to help me deciding whether should I move or not!

Advantages:

  • Located in the JU Street, right behind McDonald’s and Burger King.
  • Close to my university.
  • Furnished.
  • Transportation is easy to find.
  • Good Internet Speed.
  • Secured.

Disadvantages:

  • Hot water has timings, only from 8am to 9am and from 8pm to 9pm.
  • The studio apartment is tiny.
  • It’s in the ground floor, which I’m not really enjoying.
  • The Kitchen is tiny, and I mean tiny.
  • Expensive, I pay 200 JD for the apartment and 30 for the internet every month.

So I’m thinking of leaving this shithole because It’s giving me a headache, I can’t cook so I have to depend on junk food delivery and I can’t wash my clothes because I do not have a washing machine (I pay around 50 JD/month for the laundry).

I found this pretty nice apartment located in Dahyet Al-Rasheed, furnished, 2 rooms and a living room, satellite service and a nice kitchen + bathroom, plus an automatic washing machine for 200 JD/month that I could share with someone to live with me, but the only problem is that the owner needs 2 months upfront.

I have to think wise before doing anything stupid…

TAKE IT…Trust me,,you’ll never be able to find a furnished appartment for 200JD not even an empty one for 200JD these days (ok,an empty one for 200 in da7et il rasheed maybe,,but with difficulty),,,but a furnished one for 200 in that area and clean enough and one that’s actually livable is another story. However, like you said, you have to be wise. Check out details that were bothering u at ur other place such as water etc. Find out how much of a difference it’s going to make considering transportation costs etc.Try finding a roommate ASAP….but look at it this way, you’re already paying the 200JD on something you’re not very comfortable with, so it’d sort of be a bargain. Two months up front is a zift policy if you ask me,,,but you’re lucky it’s only 2 months, cause usually it’s at least 3, 6 and sometimes up to 1 year. However, at the same time, I don’t blame them much cause a lot of people don’t pay rent on time etc. Which is another thing to consider, are you going to actually BE there the next 2 months? or will you be off from university and travelling to see your family? You don’t want to be paying rent 3al fadhi.

Anyways, don’t wait too long before you decide,,,but yet don’t be too hasty at the same time, like you said: be wise.

Isnt Dahyet Al-Rasheed close to JU? take the flat and get a flatmate. Split the cost, live better and pay less rent. Can you get out of your broadband contract? how long before they install it at new place?

You can always pick up junk food on your way home or get it delivered or better yet you get a nice kitchen maybe use it! or try (no chance i think)

You could always pay the two months up front and then not pay for the last two months if you are worried about getting your deposit back.

Dude take it … believe me.
I have been in Bahrain for 2 month now, and when i first got here i tried to find a nice apartment but i couldn’t, so i got this small old studio apartment thingie. It is a 1 bedroom, kitchen and bathroom apartement .. and really i have no room to do anything in it, i am either sitting on my bed, in the bathroom or doing something in the kitchen no room to move around and i am paying 200 BD for it. The advantage is i have high speed internet, and someone who cleans my laundry and does my apartement every week + i don’t pay for electricity and municipality. Which is good compared to the other places, but the limited space is killing me …if you can move out by all means do so!!

  11. Jordan Moey Says:

    I will fractal, trust me.

You need to do some analysis for both lists the adv and disadv

    Advantages:
Located in the JU Street, right behind McDonald’s and Burger King. (Good)
Close to my university. (Very good)
    Furnished. (Good)
Transportation is easy to find. (Very very good, specially in emergencies)
Good Internet Speed. (Very good, no more complains)
Secured. (Veryveryveryveryveryvery……. Good, I can sleep at night not worrying about you)

    Disadvantages:
Hot water has timings; only from 8am to 9am and from 8pm to 9pm. (Ummmm,..what about private boiler or some sort of extra payments for other hours, try to discuss it again with the landlord)
The studio apartment is tiny. (Better so u r forced to do diet  but how long u stay in your flat?!!!!, you are either sleeping or getting dressed to go out)
It’s in the ground floor, which I’m not really enjoying. (Ask them for exchanging it with another one at any other floor, when vacant)
The Kitchen is tiny, and I mean tiny. (As if you ever cook, whom u r kidding?!!!!)
    Expensive, (who is paying hehehehhe)

But after all it is your decision.
