Songs, like the one above, have a very clear “Explicit Lyrics” stamp on both the front and back cover of the album/single. Moreover, there are usually two versions of the song (dirty and clean) which gives you the choice.
I agree with Angelo’s statement that there has been an abundance of crappy hip-hop albums put out these days. But the fact of the matter is, a hip-hop/rap album without explicit lyrics, isn’t hip-hop at all. The genre represents the street, and if it can’t express itself as the street would, then it might as well be burried right next to ‘Metal’…

@OJ, plenty of hiphop around without explicit lyrics. infact the pioneers of hiphop never used explicit lyrics. think this de la soul, tribe called quest, KRS/BDP, blackstar, mos def, BizMarkie, Erik B & Rakim, grandmaster flash, beastie boys, the roots, Kool Moe Dee, Run DMC, public enemy, etc.

@th14 - I agree with you regarding the pioneers of hip-hop, but in actuality, today’s rap artists feel the need to use explicit lyrics to get their point across. I could make a “guesstimation” and say that 9/10 albums in the Hip-Hop/Rn’B section of any music store contain explicit lyrics.
With that argument aside, Akon’s song has two versions: “I wanna love you” and “I wanna f&%$k you”. Believe it or not, the dirty version has sold more copies in the US and has received more worldwide downloads than the clean version. Therefore, the dirty version is targeted to the US, North America, and Europe; whereas the clean version is targeted to the rest of the world. From a business and profitability standpoint, it makes complete sense.
No one is forced to hear the dirty version, there is an option and the CHOICE is yours…Come on people, you have to admit its a catchy song. I bet most of you trashing the song can’t get it out of your head
