Ten things I loved and hated about 2006

Every year has its good points and its points of contention. Two-Thousand and 6 has been no exception.

On the world arena, there was, on the negative side, a plethora of natural disasters and war; on the positive side, it was heartwarming to see so much worldwide generosity to victims of floods, earthquakes and hurricanes.

Turning to my keyboard, here is a look back and ahead.

Ten Things I’d like to see Ending with 2006:
1- Expensive wireless internet around the city.
2- Little kids with mobile phones.
3- Expensive English-language-shop-sign-age and advertisements full of misspellings.
4- Clothing festooned with logos and slogans that make no sense (example: Emirati brands like centrepoint)
5- Beggers everywhere near fast food restaurants in Jordan that’d not let you enjoy your food.
6- Young men using hair gel, it’s bad.. hair gel is bad, try wax and spray on your hair.. half the damage of gel on skin.
7- Using Bluetooth desperate ways to I-wanna-date-someone technique by thinking that any weird nickname is a GIRL.
8- K.Fucking.C
9- Expensive internet rates, and slow speeds/bandwidth consumptions.
10- Useless Arab spammed MTVs on Nilesat.

Ten Things I liked in 2006 (and want to see more of in 2007):
1- Great new restaurants/hang outs popping up.
2- More cameras on the roadways.
3- Decent rock shows (like Rock Grip 06).
4- New malls and can’t wait till CityMall opens.
5- More covered parkings at major shopping malls.
6- Brands of young men strutting around the malls with tight, bright clothes and hair styled skywards - I like that, we had enough being regular.
7- Improvements to Roads and Abdoun’s Bridge.
8- Decent people sharing same interests with me (I met many many many decent people this year).
9- More magazines like NOX, Skin & Octagram.
10- Nice Ad campaigns like Coca-cola’s.

Everyone who feels like tagging himself, you have the right to :)

yeah we need to do that

  4. Jordan Konfused Kid Says:

K FUCKING C…indeed…and I just been at CityMall - Safeway meets Mecca Mall, except the Mecca Mall part is still down and the brand name is Darfour, aqsud Carefour.

One refreshing thing about CityMall (or not) is that there are no Iraqis…looks like the Jordanians were pissed about too much Iraqi density at the daily pilgrimige rituals in Kaaba Mall and decided to have a sweet Carforian revenge.
Maybe we’ll get to c each other soon…stay sharp (oh, btw, why didn’t u mention Saddam’s execution as one of ur things…u seemed really happy)

Adios brotha, oh and check out my YouTube vids, as an artist yourself I wanna know what ya think ;) here:

  7. Egypt Fresto Says:

You said you want an end to:
“Beggers everywhere near fast food restaurants in Jordan that’d not let you enjoy your food.”

i really hoped you are wishing that there are NO more poor people who needs to beg for a living … you know … it would be much nicer … and that is … my friend … much more important than hair wax or gel …

    Happy new year anyway …

  8. Jordan Moey Says:

Konfused Kid; I loved them specially the counter strike thingy.. really impressive!

Nizar; Ok, now I respect Sweden more for not having that crap.

Saned; we have to.. I’ll schedule it up with shellet 7asaballah

Fresto; well, I have a theory.. beggars are just unacceptable, when you need money you can find any job inshalla even if it gets you 5$ a day, but begging is an easy way to get money which I’m against.

  9. Sweden Nizar Says:

I agree with your theory moey, lets not forget that some beggers end up richer than most people..
thank god we don’t have beggers in Sweden :P

  10. Jordan dragonsvamp Says:

i agree with all your ‘hate’ list and many of your ‘like/love’ list. carrefour is nice and big…how long do you suppose it’ll take before the rest of citymall opens? it looked like it needed alot of work when i went yesterday night…

  11. Jordan Moey Says:

Virgin megastore should open in less than 2 weeks!

I think I will make a list of the ten most classist, self-centered and narrow-minded things I’ve read in the blogosphere. Your above comment will most definitely be on the list.

  13. Jordan Moey Says:

    Brain, read my previous comment.

  14. Jordan MommaBean Says:

Moey, Good lists, both of them. I’m especially in agreement on costs/speed of connectivity. It’s ridiculous. I’m less sure about City Mall, but since I don’t go to the other malls, limited impact on me. Tried Carrefour, won’t be going back. I’ll probably check out the mall itself once it opens.

Nizar, you clearly haven’t tried KFC in Jordan. They truly suck. In the US, they’re good (if slow, rude, and out of chicken alot), but in Jordan, they failed to grasp the concept of properly frying the chicken. Terribly sad…

  15. Jordan K-chan Says:

lol nice list really that i cant think of more to add! =)
yea yea more malls! specially in Irbed! (>_

  16. Jordan Mazz Says:

i just notices that most of these things are about other things and people! anything about our dear moey? you must think you’re pretty perfect eh?
    Cheers moey!
    have a good one
