This weekends been the most active weekend for me in Jordan ever.. Lets start

// Thursday, 20th of April 2006 .

Me, samia, aryana and Issa went on a photography trip to Jerash/Ajloun/Irbid with the university to prepare ourselves for the final project and the exhibition thatd feature many artists and artworks; we went to jerash first and got surrounded by the amazing race of the roman army and chariot experience. Which had battle tactics with massed Roman legionaries and war machines in action, exciting gladiator fights and authentic seven lap roman chariot races. We spent 45 mins. Approx. watching the amazing show for 2 JD/person only (of course, were not foreign) and that was @ the hippodrome in jerash. For more info on RACE, check their website @ www.jerashchariots.com

Later on, our teacher Mrs. Abeer Tamimi decided on us going to check a cave in ajloun (an area called barqash to be exact). We suffered to reach the cave because reaching it was kind of a pain in the ass; the area is full or rocks, insects and happy nature… Anyways, we reached the amazing cave which was really humid inside but cool, saw bats inside and weird ass insects, but it was fun especially for insectophobics. (me, me, me, YES ME!).

After suffering, getting muddy and feeling like having a shower, we went to Irbid, close to the Yarmouk University and had food at pizza hut (the only branch) whichs too pathetic, the wallpapers were like re-used and the place looked like a falafel place, but to be honest, the food and service kicked ass.

// Friday, 21st of April 2006 .

Woke up dizzy and felt lost, got a call from McDonalds owner (whom I complained to about bad service) saying that hed like to meet me this Thursday/Friday if I was free. So I was like cool… got dressed. Went there.. told him the story and everything, he called the 2 workers, took 20% of their income this month away because of their GOOD treatment and gave me a scratch and win card (after offering me like 3 meals not to tell McDonalds international) but I was like: thanks, I dont want your free food.

Anyways, I got meal for me and my 2 cousin, scratched the first card and won another meal, and got a 5 JD umniah recharge card on the 2nd card, then got a free coca-cola on the 3rd.

Got a call later on from samia, to check linas place.. I went back home, had a shower.. went to linas and slept over mentioning families in Kuwait, ksa and missing parents, brothers and sisters.

// Saturday 22nd of april, 2006 .

Woke up at 4 pm dizzy and lost again, lina took rawan to the doctor because shes tired and her eyes are like extra large sized. Me and samia headed to Burger king to have lunch, then we suddenly met steeve and had a small talk, and I just got back tired.

Sorry if theres anything miss-spelled, Im just too tired and exited to post, posting pics of the trip soon
Bye for now!

Villa Moda Syria!!

Why wait for the glossy magazines when you can see the pictures right here? Below are interior shots from the beautiful new Villa Moda boutique that opened last Friday in Damascus, in the middle of the spice market in the old city.

Yes, you read that correctly… Damascus!! It’s always uplifting to see a Kuwaiti franchise elsewhere to counter the multiple franchises here, but I admit I was initially puzzled by the choice of location as much as anyone else. I then learned that up until very recently, the totalitarian Syrian government had always banned imports of foreign garments and textiles. God only knows why… Any foreign garment manufacturers wanting to do business in Syria had to operate a local plant there. Wealthy Syrians (and there are many!) hungry for luxury goods either went to Beirut for their shopping fix or traveled to Europe. Well now the government has loosened up its trade restrictions, and there is a huge gap in the market for this sort of thing.

Now let’s hope Syria cleans up its act in other ways…
